FAQ 1:  Will a cell tower really impact my property value?

A:  This question has been at the center of study and debate for some time.  I have seen studies that site property values impacts from 2% to 5% or higher.  I think that the published data on this matter is highly prone to bias.

I have never seen any indication that a cell tower improved surrounding property values.

Ask yourself this question:  If I were shopping for a home, and found 2 houses that were identical in every imaginable way, except that one of these houses was in the vicinity of a cell tower, which home would I choose?

Now, imagine that you are trying to sell your house to someone who has the same choice to make.  Would you be more inclined to lower your price?

Unfortunately, this issue extends beyond simply buying and selling.  What if you want to re-finance your home?  Will an appraiser find that the proximity to a tower impacts your home value?
Andrew N. Davis, Ph.D. and Paul Schaffman, authors of "The Home Environmental Sourcebook: 50 Environmental Hazards to Avoid When Buying, Selling, or Maintaining a Home," claim that it will.  This book appears on the recommended books list at AppraiserUSA.com.

FAQ 2.  I like cell phones and would like to get a better signal, what can I do?

It is entirely possible to improve cell signal in your home or without ruining your property value, or that of your neighbors.

These options are affordable, practical, and reflect the right type of innovation.  Additionally, adding a personal cell signal booster to your home is SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE.  Why should I have to deal with a tower in plain view of my home in order to improve your cell coverage?

The video  below (which I found on YouTube) demonstrates both the ease of installation and effectiveness of one such signal booster.
